Qualifications

Description:

Provide coverage in Lunch Room/Cafeteria during student lunch hours with minimum supervision.

Education:

Must possess and provide proof of high school diploma or GED certification. Must attached proof of education at time of on-line application submission.

Experience:

Excellent customer service skills.

• Must possess good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

• Ability to exercise initiative, use good discretion and judgment, work as part of team, and work in a fast-paced environment with minimum direction.

• Experience working with large groups of people, especially school age students preferred.

• Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

• Excellent customer service and problem solving skills; ability to be flexible.

• Mediation and conflict resolution skills a plus.

Attendance:

Regular Attendance is critical; must have an exemplary attendance record.

Citizenship:

Must be able to verify whether U.S. citizen, resident alien, or otherwise authorized to accept employment in the U.S.

Physical Condition:

Must be physically able to perform the duties and responsibilities outlined with or without accommodations.


Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Principal or Designee:

Essential Functions:

1. Provide coverage in Lunch Room/Cafeteria during student lunch hours with minimum supervision.

2. Monitor student activity in the lunchroom and lunchroom area including standing and monitoring student’s entry and exit to lunchroom.

3. Respond to incidents appropriately; notify administrators.

4. Ensure students follow rules set forth by administrators.

5. Demonstrated ability to work well with high school students.

6. Assist with escorting and monitoring students during lunch period and lunch recess.

7. Provide excellent customer service to students, staff, parents, visitors, and the community.

8. Perform other relevant duties and assignments from Principal or Designee.

Security Clearance:

All fingerprinting appointments will be scheduled by Detroit Public Schools, Human Resources Department.

INTERNAL APPLICANTS
If you are a current Detroit Public Schools employee, presently employed with the district, you do not have to submit a fee related to obtaining the Detroit Public Schools security clearance.

A copy of your valid teacher certification should also be attached if certification is required for the position you are applying for.
