About Us

Keidan Special Education Center is a school for students ages 3-13 with Autism Spectrum Disorder and with Moderate, Severe, and Severe Multiple Cognitive Impairments.  Our program in considered to be center-based, in that, we offer comprehensive educational programs, therapeutic services (occupational, physical and speech) as well as social, psychological and nursing services for our exceptional students.  Our instructional focus is predicated on the goals and objectives outlined in each student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP).  This allows for our staff to tailor lessons to meet our student different learning modalities.  Keidan students have an opportunity to participate in Community-Based Instruction (CBI), Music Therapy, Adaptive Physical Education, Art, Dance, Choir, Special Olympics, Recycling and Community Outreach Programs.

Keidan Special Education Center is dedicated to providing a quality education for all of its students through a clean, safe and healthy setting.  We will prepare our exceptional students to reach their highest potential through interactive and differentiated learning strategies and ongoing assessments built upon the unified efforts of our staff parents and community.

Our Vision

It is the vision of the Keidan staff, parents and community to provide a child focused program based on the unique individual educational needs of each student in the least restrictive environment.  This will be achieved using creative hands on approaches and collaborative methodologies to student progress while using research based and Michigan approved alternative assessments.

Keidan Special Education Center is dedicated to providing services for students with disabilities in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and state regulations.  Keidan staff is committed to providing a continuum of special education services for our students based on the individual’s needs and IEP team recommendations.  We promise to work collaboratively with our parents, guardians and caregivers to ensure that our students are educated in a cooperative learning environment that is rich with project-based learning, differentiated and community-based instruction.  We will provide, through our professionalism and integrity, a safe, nurturing and supportive atmosphere conducive to all learners.

Uniform Requirements

Shirt: White or Blue.
Pants/Skirts: Khaki, Black, or Blue.
