There's never been a better time for businesses, alumni, community members and everyone concerned with public education to partner with Detroit Public Schools. With a rigorous new five-year academic plan in place and new instructional strategies and a stronger curriculum in every classroom, major worldwide corporations and alumni of local schools are stepping forward to volunteer, contribute and pledge human resources, talent, technology and monetary gifts.
For the safety and security of our students, all DPS Reading Corps volunteers will be required to have a DPS photo identification and background check and must be fingerprinted. The photo identification card, provided by Detroit Public Schools, will be required for entry into schools.
The background check and photo identification process will be conducted at no charge to volunteers. Available times below are at the Detroit Public Schools Welcome Center, 3031 W. Grand Blvd. in Detroit.
Possible additional times and places for volunteers to be fingerprinted, including suburban locations, will be announced via e-mail and on the Reading Corps Web site. If you haven’t done so, please fill out the Michigan Fingerprint Application Form before arriving to have fingerprints taken.
Future dates to be determined.
