The Sara Kerr Fund

This fund was named for the first Director of the School Social Work Department, Sara Kerr. The Detroit School Social Workers Association (DSSWA) has always administered it. The fund was set up to help students who have a “one time” financial need of $50.00 or less, which cannot be met through other resources. Whether it’s clothing because of a house fire, graduation fees, deposits for applications to school or training programs, or an emergency situation, money can be obtained in a few days.

School Social Workers who are members, (or join at the time of request) are asked to fill out an application, which is reviewed by the Sara Kerr Fund Chairman and one other Board member. Applications can be obtained from the bulletin board box on the second floor at Longfellow Annex. Return completed application to Phyllis White, Room 140.
