Detroit Public Schools today hosted a community celebration for the new $22.3 million Munger PreK to 8 School, one of eight construction projects to break ground this fall, as part of the district's $500.5 million capital improvement program funded by voter-approved Proposal S dollars. The event included students, parents, faculty and officials, community leaders and civic and community groups. Once the new school is built in 2012, it will include an elementary and middle school wing connected by a two-story "student arcade" that will function as a dining court, student center and school square.
