At Kettering High School students are provided with a top notch education. The highly qualified teaching and support staff at Kettering take great pride in working to not only meet the needs of students but to exceed them as well. Kettering has set the bar high and continues striving everyday to ensure the success of all its students.
Kettering High School has made great strides over the last few years to continue improving upon what they do best: educating students. They’ve been recognized for two consecutive years by the Skillman Foundation as a Good School and this year, received a $50,000 grant to aid in bringing about the change Principal Willie Howard would like to see.
Kettering believes in preparing students for real world experience and in order to do that offers classes in technology, foreign language, career and college prep courses, as well as advanced placement courses. Students also have access to 7 computer labs throughout the building, after school tutoring and can participate in fine arts, instrumental music, advanced art, and sports. The Benjamin Banneker Honors Program is also open to students who achieve and desire more of an academic challenge. A well-rounded student is of importance to the staff at Kettering and they add that they “take the responsibility of educating your students seriously.”
Kettering also houses the Detroit Allied Health Middle College High School. This program is designed to discourage students from dropping out of high school by offering them the opportunity to:
- Earn a High School Diploma and Associate Degree simultaneously
- Earn a Certificate of Completion in Pharmacy Technology, Phlebotomy, and Dental Lab Tech
- Be eligible for admission to a Program of Focus (i.e. Nursing, Surgical Technology, Dental Hygiene)
Ensuring that all students achieve to their maximum potential is the primary goal at Kettering High School. They believe with help from their community partners and parents, this goal will continue to become a reality each and every day.
