At Gompers Elementary, great things are happening! As one of Detroit Public Schools top learning institutions for elementary students, Samuel Gompers Elementary School continues to produce some of the most well prepared students who are excited to learn and become productive members of society.

At Gompers Elementary, Principal Bobbie Posey Milner believes that all children are capable of learning and is thrilled that the students entrusted in her care are excited to show up to school everyday. The students say it’s not hard to be excited when they have courses such as music, dance and art, and the Young Writers Program. Core academics remain the top priority though and the 100%  highly qualified teaching staff at Gompers do a fantastic job of preparing students to continue the process of learning when they move on to Middle School. As a school that has implemented the Comers Process, the focus of Gompers staff is on improving academic learning and enhancing the social, psychological and emotional development of students.
