Ronald Brown Academy

Ronald Brown Academy/ Pre K-6

Nancy Ross, Principal

11450 & 11530 East Outer Drive (2 Buildings)

When your school wins one of only six national awards for being a positively changed school, you know you have created an educational program that works. Earlier this year, Principal Nancy Ross received notice from the Panasonic Corporation that the Academy would be a recipient of their National School Change Award. Along with the $5,000 cash award, the students will have the opportunity to participate in a national research project that focuses on school change. The Academy is also a Skillman High Performing School.

The Ronald Brown Academy serves as a light that is leading the way to student achievement. The award is but a testament to the dedication of the staff to making sure the students are mastering the core academic curriculum along with the advanced academic learning opportunities.

But Academy students have many enrichment/learning experiences from which to choose such as the Science Club; sports; modern and ballroom dancing; The French Club; the Science Fair; art; band; chess; the Glee Club; and the Gospel Choir.

Teaching methods that work create the environment that fosters student achievement which is always the goal of the staff at Ronald Brown Academy.

Historical Note: The school was named after the first African American Secretary of Commerce.

School Mascot: The Bear
