Fisher Magnet School

Fisher Magnet School is a school of choice named after the founder, Dorothy Fisher. The school provides a strong academic program and received a $25,000 grant from The Skillman Foundation in 2007 for their continuous improvement. Last school year, Fisher students competed in the Academic Games tournament in Grand Rapids and were State Champions in ‘Equations.’ The students were also runner-up State champions in ‘On-Sets.’  Fisher students have also competed in state-wide art competitions and received distinguished honors for their sculpture designs. Their work was displayed at Wayne County Community College Exhibits in May 2008. The students are excelling and increasing their reading, writing and mathematics skills with the school’s new mobile laptop laboratory. It was acquired with funds from a Skillman Grant. Staff and students at Fisher were recently informed that they are eligible for additional grant funds this year as a result of the fifth graders improvement in MEAP test scores for 2007. The students, staff, parents and community are proud to be a part of the collective accomplishments at Fisher Magnet School!
