*Must travel to provide services to the VI/POHI students.
*Plan and coordinate for students that enables them to function independently in the general education setting.
*Braille all necessary materials the VI students will need to successfully access the general education setting.
*Trained in the use of VI equipment, such as the Braille Printer.
*Knowledge of Braille translation programs.
The POHI/VI Special Skills Aide/Trainable Special Education Aide will work assignments in a manner that will facilitate orderly, efficient and effective operation in the building, as well as in the classroom:
Must possess and provid evidence of High School diploma or GED certification; Associates Degree or sixty (60) credit hours from an accredited insitution;
or in lieu of 60 credit hours, successful completion of the Workkeys assessment exam.
The Workkeys assessment exam is administered at Henry Ford Community College, Macomb Community College, and Marygrove College.
EVIDENCE OF HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR GED CERTIFICATION, AND COLLEGE TRANSCRIPTS OF DEGREE/COURSE WORK MUST BE ATTACHED TO ON-LINE APPLICATION AT TIME OF SUBMITTION

Experience working with school age youth helpful.
Travel to provide services to the VI/POHI students.
Plan and coordinate for students that enables them to function independently in the general education setting.

Knowledge of Braille translation programs.
Regular Attendance is critical; must have an exemplary attendance record.
Must be able to verify whether U.S. citizen, resident alien, or otherwise authorized to accept employment in the U.S.
Must be physically able to perform the duties and responsibilities outlined with or without accommodations.
Under the direction of the Principal or Designee:
Must travel to provide services to the VI/POHI students
Plan and coordinate for students that enables them to function independently in the general education setting

Knowledge of Braille translation programs.
Also,
Assist with the cleanup, storing and retrieval of supplies and equipment before and after activities.
Assist in preparation of instructional materials, bulletin boards, etc., as requested by the instructional staff.
Escort students to support service rooms (i.e., nurse, speech, school social worker) when appropriate.
During mainstream activities or change in classes; supervise students to and from classes.
Work cooperatively with instructional, support staff and administrative staff.
Participate in staff development activities.
Care for studentS physical needs which includes; washing, lifting, feeding, taking to toilet, diapering and changing clothes, as required by students physical condition.
Monitor students to and from the lavatory as appropriate
During the lunch period, monitor and/or feed students as physical condition dictates.
Implement the activities as directed by the instructional staff.
Assist in maintaining a neat and clean area for any and all classroom and lunch activities. When necessary, sanitize by using universal health care procedures.
Assist in the preparation and implementation of classroom activities and/or individual and small group instruction, under the direction/supervision of the instructional staff.
When students are leaving school, responsible for monitoring students at the end of the day while they are awaiting bus or taxicab.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal/Administrator or designee.
