In accordance with the Agreement between DAEOE and the School District of the City of Detroit, Article X, Vacant Positions, the following vacancy is announced:
Job Type: Non-Instructional

Will provide legal secretiral support for a group of attorneys in a variety of legal matters.
Successful candidate must possess and provide evidence of a high school diploma or GED certificate; at least four (4) semesters of undergraduate coursework strongly desired; certificate course and /or skills in a legal training program may be substituted for undergraduate work.

Successful candidate must have previous legal experience preferably working for multiple attorneys in a litigation based practice group or department.
Excellent verbal, writing, grammar and editing skills; strong analytical skills; good interpersonal skills; must be self motivated, and have the ability to organize and prioritize work and to meet strict deadlines.
Strong sense of confidentiality and customer service skills, professional, positive attitude; highly detailed orientated.

Regular Attendance is critical; must have an exemplary attendance record.

Under the direction of the General Counsel or staff attorneys:
Serve as liaison between the General Counsel, Attorneys, clients and support team;
Primarily assist in-house counsel with litigation, filing and legal matters;
Organize and prepare a variety of legal pleadings, reports, letters, internal documents, as well as file legal documents with agencies to conform with legal requirements;
Plan meetings; keep calendar of appointments; answer related internal and external questions within authority;
Prepare legal correspondences and related documents;
Maintain accurate and appropriate records and files relative to the effective operation of the office;
Answer telephones, take messages, greet visitors, schedule appointments; operate modern office equipment; and
Perform other work related duties as assigned.
