Pershing High’s Mory Diane, a 6-3 shooting guard, has been named Detroit Public School League Proud Strong Learner of the Week.
Diane (pronounced de-AH-nay) transferred from Detroit Country Day after three seasons to play his senior year for the No. 1-ranked Doughboys.
He made an immediate impact with his ability to defend and, offensively, drive to the rim, pull up for mid-range jumper or sink it from deep. He’ll be attending and playing next fall at the University of Buffalo.
The Detroit Public School League Proud Strong Learner of the Week award is representative of the league’s top boys’ and girls’ athletes. The award is presented by the DPS Office of Athletics and is sponsored by Detroit-area McDonald’s owner-operators.
