Students go for the gold at the 2018 Winter Games

Students have been practicing for the last couple months and were ready to give it their all for Special Olympics 2018 State Winter Games January 30 through February 2 near Traverse City. During the competition, athletes showcased the skills they’ve learned from months of intense training. DPSCD participated in Cross-Country Skiing (250M, 500M) and snowshoeing (25M, 50M, 100M, 200M and 400M).

Special Olympics programs in DPSCD provides year-round sports training and athletic competition for over 2,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Athletes build physical fitness, develop self-confidence, and prepare for participation in society.

Congratulations to our Olympic all-stars!
