High schools students invited to Military and College Options Day

All DPSCD high school students are invited to attend the College and Military Career Options Day on Wednesday, November 8 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Detroit Light Guard Armory at 4400 E. 8 Mile Rd. Interested students should contact their school’s JROTC leader for transportation information. Students will explore college financing and military service options. Students are encouraged to take the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery Test (ASVAB), a timed-test that determines readiness for certain military occupational specialties and enlistment bonuses.

Advantages of the ASVAB:

  • Provides additional career planning information
  • Can be used as an SAT/ACT exam preparation tool and score predictor
  • Offers information on military career options
  • High scores will improve chances of receiving a specialty job and large signing bonus.

Test preparation is available at http://official-asvab.com/applicants.htm
