Earlier in May, students from Cass Tech, King and Renaissance High Schools had the opportunity to participate in the 15th annual International African Diaspora Youth Conference at the University of Windsor. The conference offered unique experiences for our students to learn about different cultures and how it has played a role in the development of their self-esteem and values. It provided an exceptional forum where students discussed concerns they have growing up in a North American society and shared perspectives of their own diverse cultures. Through this dialogue, they are likely to discover that although there are differences, they have much in common. Our students had the opportunity to speak with the Canadian community and university students who have been through similar situations and have excelled in their educational pursuits.
Thank you to the DPS Foundation for sponsoring these students giving them the chance to experience the diverse culture just across the bridge!
