40 DPSCD High Schoolers Hired for Summer Community Greening Positions

For seven weeks over the summer, 40 Detroit Public Schools Community District Schools high school students were hard at work making schools, homes and communities more sustainable in Detroit. The 40 students selected to work on one of five projects that focused on education, food access and justice, energy savings, art activism and renewable power generation. In addition to these projects, students also gained valuable skills in financial literacy, group facilitation and job preparedness.

Thanks to partnerships with EcoWorks, Grow Detroit’s Young Talent and AmeriCorps, students earned both a living stipend and a $1,200 scholarship for future education expenses.
