As part of a partnership with the Detroit Lions “Meet Up and Eat Up” program, 30 students from Gompers Elementary-Middle School were able to laugh, play and shop with several members of the Detroit Lions football team on Tuesday, September 13. Students were bused to Eastern Market where the Lions joined them and played four square, jump rope and more! From there they had a brief Q & A Session where students asked the players about their favorite fruits and veggies as well as their pre-game meal. All students were given tokens and Double Up Food Bucks from the Fair Food Network to purchase their own produce from Eastern Market. Ford Field Executive Chef Joe Nader, brought healthy lunches for the students and recipes for healthy after school snacks to prepare at home. The students and players had a blast!
