The District and the Detroit Federation of Teachers (DFT) have reached a tentative collective bargaining agreement covering a faculty in excess of 2,900 certified teachers and professional staff.
“We are pleased that the summer-long negotiations have resulted in a tentative agreement prior to students returning to school. Detroit Public Schools Community District looks forward to a successful start of the school year as we begin this new chapter in Detroit public education in providing the best educational opportunities we can for our students,” said Transition Manager Steven Rhodes.
As is normally the case, the terms of the tentative agreement will remain confidential until after ratification by the parties. Before the agreement becomes effective, the Financial Review Commission must approve it.
