DPS students attend the African Diaspora Youth Conference at the University of Windsor

Students from Cass Technical High School, Martin Luther King, Jr. Senior High School and Renaissance High School attended the annual African Diaspora Youth Conference (ADYC) at the University of Windsor, May 13. Detroit Public Schools is the only school district in the United States that participates in this conference with diverse student populations from the Province of Ontario in the Nation of Canada.

The day consisted of breakfast, lunch campus tours, breakout sessions, panel discussions and reporting out on issues that increase cultural awareness/appreciation, character/social development and  college/university preparation. Before arriving at the conference, students experienced crossing an International Border along with the protocol and procedures of Canadian and U.S. Homeland Security. It was an educational, enjoyable and energizing day!
