J.E. Clark Preparatory Academy has been named Habitat for Humanity Detroit’s Community Partner of the Year. Clark will be honored during the organization’s 5th Annual Red Carpet Bash, on Saturday, February 27, 2016. The event will be held at The Fillmore Theater with the purpose to raise awareness and funds for Habitat for Humanity Detroit and its mission to ReBuild Detroit.
Clark was chosen because of its ongoing partnership with Habitat for Humanity and its continuous efforts to aid in rehabilitating homes in the Morningside Community, as part of an ongoing neighborhood revitalization program. The partnership has helped to provide housing for several families in the Clark Community.
According to Principal Demond Thomas, Clark Preparatory Academy is known as the hub of the Morningside Community. The school provides a welcoming and friendly educational environment that fosters the needs of every child in the community.
“This award is not just for Clark School but the entire Clark Community,” Principal Thomas said. “I feel very honored to receive such a prestigious award. This award represents hope, pride and determination in the revitalization efforts of our proud community.”
The event will celebrate the stars of Habitat for Humanity Detroit with the “Habbies” – the organization’s version of the Oscars. A strolling dinner, auction and live entertainment will be available to guests. Principal Thomas will also be presented on stage as Community Partner of the Year.
