DPS kicks off Application Period Wednesday, February 24 for 22 Application Schools

The district kicks off its Application Schools Period Wednesday, February 24 for the 22 Application Schools, which range from a number of top-ranked schools by Excellent Schools Detroit to robust STEM programs such as Detroit International Academy, home of the Pink Panthers and all-girls robotics team, to language immersion programs, including those offered at Academy of the Americas and Foreign Language Immersion and Cultural Studies School.

The month-long Application Schools period runs from February 24 to March 23. Applications are open to families of current DPS students as well as those newly enrolling or attending school elsewhere.

The Application Schools are as follows:

  1. Academy of the Americas (K-8) / Academy of the Americas (9-11)
  2. Ann Arbor Trail Magnet Elementary-Middle School
  3. Bates Academy
  4. Benjamin Carson High School of Science and Medicine
  5. Burton International Academy
  6. Chrysler Elementary School
  7. Clippert Academy
  8. Communication and Media Arts High School
  9. Davis Aerospace High School
  10. Detroit Collegiate Preparatory Academy at Northwestern
  11. Detroit International Academy for Young Women
  12. Detroit School of Arts
  13. Douglass Academy for Young Men
  14. Edward “Duke” Ellington Conservatory of Music and Art
  15. Foreign Language Immersion and Cultural Studies School (FLICS)
  16. Golightly Education Center
  17. Ludington Magnet Middle School
  18. Marcus Garvey Academy
  19. Mark Twain School for Scholars
  20. Nichols Elementary-Middle School
  21. Paul Robeson – Malcolm X Academy
  22. Spain Elementary-Middle School
