DPS’ 21st Century Youth Advisory Council collects water for Flint Community Schools

Over 200 cases of water traveled from Detroit to Flint on Thursday, February 11 as a result of Detroit Public Schools’ 21st Century After-School Youth Advisory Council. Several weeks ago, the Youth Advisory Council leaders met to plan how they could help Flint’s 21st Century After-School students. DPS students mobilized their site coordinators and lead agencies and soon, twenty 21st Century school programs were collecting water for their companion students in the 21st Century After-School Program attending Flint Community Schools.

Youth Advisory Council members traveled with their water donation to Flint, delivering a minimum of 40 cases to each of the school buildings selected. Students want to send the message, “You can count on us!”
