PSL football semifinals to clear way for championship doubleheader Oct. 23 at Ford Field

The countdown to Ford Field intensifies this weekend with the 2015 Detroit Public School League Division 1 and Division 2 football semifinals at DCP-Northwestern High School.

The Division 1 semifinals are Friday, featuring two-time defending league champion Cass Tech (5-1 PSL, 6-1 overall) against Mumford (3-3, 3-4) at 5 p.m., followed by unbeaten No. 1-seed King (6-0, 7-0) against Cody (2-4, 2-5) at 7 p.m.

On Saturday, the Division 2 semifinals pair Henry Ford (5-1, 5-2) against Central (5-1, 5-2) at noon, followed by Pershing (3-3, 4-3) against unbeaten No. 1-seed DCP Northwestern (6-0, 7-0) at 2 p.m. Admission to the semifinals is $5.

The semifinal winners advance to the PSL Championship doubleheader Friday, Oct. 23, at Ford Field. The PSL Division 2 title game is 4 p.m. and the PSL Division 1 title game is 7 p.m. Admission to the PSL finals doubleheader at Ford Field is $10 and tickets can be purchased in advance at participating schools or the day of the game at the Ford Field box office.

All teams not participating in the PSL playoffs will be in crossover game action Thursday at 4 p.m. The schedule includes: CMA (0-6, 0-7) at East English Village (4-2, 5-2); Southeastern (1-5, 1-6) at Renaissance (2-4, 3-4); Douglass (3-3, 3-4) at Denby (2-4, 3-4); and Osborn (1-5, 2-5) vs. Western (0-6, 1-6) at DCP-Northwestern.
