On Saturday, June 6 Amy Tulip and the Earhart Flyers participated in the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Riverfront 5K Run. Earhart Elementary-Middle School teacher and running coach, Amy Tulip, founded the running club earlier this year to give her students an opportunity to get active and exercise together. Tulip traveled to Kentucky to become a certified running coach through the Road Runners Club of America. She knew if she was going to train her students for a race, she wanted to do it the right way.
“I want these kids to know they come from somewhere good,” said Tulip. “I grew up here and came from the same exact neighborhood. I’ve lived here my whole life.”
After months of training, fifth graders Vianny, Vianca, Sydney, and Emanuel achieved their goal of completing the 2nd Annual Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Riverfront Run. The students all agree running helps them to be more confident and build strength.
