Cass Tech junior hurdler named PSL Proud Strong Learner of the Week

Cass Tech junior Savalas Morgan took home three gold medals to help Cass Tech repeat as Detroit Public School League boys’ track and field champions and has been named PSL Proud Strong Learner of the Week.

Savalas MorganMorgan timed 15.49 to win the 110 hurdles and clocked 41.79 to take first in the 300 hurdles in addition to running a leg on the Technicians’ victorious 4×200 relay team (1:29.51).

“He had quite a few nagging injuries going into the meet, but he gave his best for the team,” said Cass Tech coach Thomas Wilcher.

Morgan is also a defensive back for Cass Tech’s defending PSL champion football team.

The Detroit Public School League Proud Strong Learner of the Week award is representative of the league’s top boys’ and girls’ athletes. The award is presented by the DPS Office of Athletics and is sponsored by Detroit-area McDonald’s owner-operators
