Congratulations to our District-Wide Spelling Bee winners

The Detroit Public Schools’ Office of Literacy hosted the Inaugural District-Wide Spelling Bee on Thursday, March 26 at Renaissance High School. The top winners received a trophy and an iPad mini, sponsored by the DPS Foundation.

Elementary winners:
1st place- Dakota Dorsey, 5th grade, Chrysler Elementary School
Runner up- Mekhai Walker, 4th grade, Burton International Academy

Middle School winners:
2nd place- Asia Noble, 8th grade, Dossin Elementary-Middle School
Runner up- Kevin Howard, 7th grade, Golightly Education Center

“We are proud of all of our spelling bee participants,” said the DPS Office of Literacy team. “To all of the Spelling Bee Coordinators and Instructional Specialists we thank you for all of your hard work and going above and beyond to conduct building-wide competitions and supporting your students.
