Cass Tech student receives national medal at the 2015 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards

Cass Technical High School senior Yazmon Ector  received a national medal at the 2015 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. Ector won a national silver medal for her Art Portfolio. She is the only Detroit Public Schools student to win a Michigan (regional) gold medal and national silver medal for her portfolio. Additionally, Ector is invited to accept her Scholastic Art & Writing Awards national medal and participate in the 2015 national events in New York City June 10-12, 2015.

About the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards
According to www.artandwriting.org, since 1923, the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards have recognized the vision, ingenuity, and talent of the nation’s youth, and provided opportunities for creative teens to be celebrated. Each year, increasing numbers of aspiring young artists and writers, filmmakers and photographers, poets, and sculptors participate in the program along with educators who support and encourage the creative process. During the 2014 program year, students across America submitted 255,000 original works.
