PSL boys’ basketball schedule moved to Wednesday

Due to the weather, Tuesday’s Detroit Public School League boys’ basketball games have been postponed and rescheduled for 4 p.m. Wednesday with one exception. The Cass Tech vs. Western game will be played Wednesday at 9 p.m. following the 7 p.m. quarterfinal game of the PSL Big D girls’ basketball tournament at Western International High.

The other boys’ games, all 4 p.m. Wednesday starts, include Mumford at Southeastern, East English Village at Ford, Pershing at Renaissance, King at Cody, Central at Douglass, West Side at DCP-Northwestern, CMA at Osborn, and Davis at Denby and are the final league games before the PSL Big D boys’ basketball tournament starts Friday with first-round games at nine sites.

The PSL Big D girls’ basketball tournament resumes with quarterfinal games Wednesday and Thursday at Western International High School. On Wednesday, Denby (5-4) plays Mumford (8-2) at 5 p.m. and Pershing (5-5) plays Cass Tech (9-1) at 7 p.m. On Thursday, DCP-Northwestern (10-0) plays Renaissance (7-3) at 5 p.m. and Ford (6-4) meets King (9-0) 7 p.m.

In first-round girls’ action last Wednesday (Jan. 28), Pershing beat CMA 56-44, Mumford beat Cody 70-28, Cass Tech shut out Osborn 80-0, DCP-Northwestern got past Southeastern 53-24, Ford trounced DIA 64-17, and Renaissance defeated Davis 80-11. King and Denby advanced with a bye.
