DCP-Northwestern’s Chandler-Poole twins named PSL Proud Strong Learners of the Week

Detroit Collegiate Prep at Northwestern has given its girls’ basketball opposition double trouble this season in the form of senior twins Icesis and Iresis Chandler-Poole, the Detroit Public School League Proud Strong Learners of the Week.

twinschandler (2)The Lady Colts entered the Big D girls’ tournament with a 9-0 league record after going undefeated for the second year in a row in division play. The capper was a 54-28 victory against previously-unbeaten CMA as both twins posted double-doubles. Icesis led all players with 24 points and 15 rebounds, while Iresis delivered 15 points and 14 rebounds.

For the season, Icesis, a 6-0 guard-forward, is averaging 11 points and 10 rebounds and Iresis, a 6-0 forward-center, is averaging nine points and nine rebounds.

Both twins have an above 3.5 grade point average and are looking at numerous collegiate offers.

The Detroit Public School League Proud Strong Learner of the Week award is representative of the league’s top boys’ and girls’ athletes. The award is presented by the DPS Office of Athletics and is sponsored by Detroit-area McDonald’s owner-operators
