PSL junior varsity basketball championship doubleheader Thursday to pair familiar foes

The Detroit Public School League boys’ basketball junior varsity championship game will be contested between 7 Mile Road neighbors.

Scan_20150127Osborn (7-0) and Pershing (6-1) both advanced with semifinal victories and will meet for the 2014-15 PSL JV crown Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at East English Village Prep Academy. That game will be preceded by the PSL girls’ JV championship game between rivals King (7-0) and Cass Tech (5-1) at 4 p.m.

In boys’ semifinal action Monday, unbeaten Osborn rolled to a 77-43 victory against Western (6-1) and Pershing won 81-64 against Central (4-3) at King High School, while in the girls’ semifinals at East English Village, King stayed unbeaten with a 69-32 victory against previously unbeaten DCP-Northwestern (6-1). Cass Tech’s girls advanced to the finals with a bye.

Admission to the JV championship doubleheader Thursday at East English Village is $3.
