Fleming students create their own Auto Show

The pre-kindergarten students at Fleming Early Learning Center created their own Auto Show in honor of the 2015 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) Education Day held Wednesday, Jan. 21 at Cobo Center.

The student engineers and artists had brainstorming sessions that allowed them to discuss their car designs. The students’ innovative and clever designs were achieved during their small and large group time during the HighScope framework for teaching and learning. The students were able to apply math, science, engineering, art, and technology skills in the context of the Key Developmental Indicators (KDIs). The students’ individual car designs allowed them to use many skill sets that engineers and artists use such as teamwork, prior knowledge, critical thinking skills, communication, and so much more. This collaborative effort resulted in a classroom car design that reflects innovation and dedication to have young children explore and learn.
