DPS All City Marching Band performs in the 2014 Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Parade, Field Show Competitions and Mass Pre-Game Show

The Detroit Public Schools All City Marching Band performed in the 2014 Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Parade, Field Show Competitions and Mass Pre-Game Show held in Atlanta, Georgia December 28-31.

The students were well received and acknowledged with a standing ovation upon the conclusion of their performance in the Field Show Competition held in the Georgia Dome. The students and staff represented DPS very well and created quite a buzz concerning the musicianship and performances by the band.

There were 14 bands participating in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Festival activities from 11 different states. Additionally, two college recruiters requested to come to Detroit to recruit DPS students for scholarships to attend their college or university.

The All City Marching Band took home awards including:
First Place: Grand Champion award for the Peach Bowl Parade
First Place: Field Show Competition award Open Classification
First Place: Parade award Open Classification

Also, Drum Major Otis Wynn won the Best Drum Major award for the Field Show Competition.

This was the first major event other than Americas Thanksgiving Day Parade that the All City Marching Band auditioned for and was selected to participate in since the 2002 Tournament of Roses Parade and Field Show Competition.

The 2014-15 Band has received an invitation to travel to Virginia to march and compete in the Strawberry Festival Parade scheduled for May 17. However, DPS events already scheduled will not allow for the ACMB to participate in the 2015 festival. The Strawberry Festival Committee stated that they will send a formal invitation for the band to perform in the 2016 Strawberry Festival/Parade.
