Bennett Elementary hosts Detroit Red Wings “School Assembly Program”

IMG_2133Students in grades second through fifth at Bennett Elementary School participated in the Detroit Red Wings “School Assembly Program” on Thursday, December 11. The assembly was designed to introduce students to the sport of hockey and increase awareness about the importance of having a good education, achieving a healthy and active lifestyle and a special message on anti-bullying.

The Red Wings School Assembly team played various games such as Red Wings trivia, a hockey stick relay race and a fun face-off between teachers and students during a hockey shootout competition. The Red Wings Foundation also donated two full sets of street hockey equipment to Bennett’s physical education program.

The assembly was presented by the Detroit Red Wings Foundation, Michigan Education Savings Program and the Kroger Co. of Michigan.
