FAMILIAR FINALISTS: Cass Tech to face Renaissance in PSL girls’ volleyball title game Thursday

Four-time defending champion Cass Tech defeated Western, 25-10, 25-13, 25-9, and Renaissance took four sets to beat King, 25-11, 25-15, 21-25, 25-15, Thursday in the Detroit Public School League girls’ volleyball semifinals at Western International High School.

It’ll be Cass Tech vs. Renaissance, as usual, for the 2014 PSL championship Thursday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. at Western International High.  The action starts with the consolation game at 5 p.m. between Western and King. Admission is $5.

Renaissance, head coached by Louis Mitchell,  last won the league title in 2009 and has been Cass Tech’s finals opponent each year since. The Technicians are trying to extend their streak under first-year head coach Ramona Cox.
