DPS to hold final two auctions of surplus equipment, including one for surplus World War II-era airline engines, propellers and more!

Auction preview occurring today

Detroit Public Schools will hold a preview of surplus items today available to be purchased by the public as part of a major online warehouse auction the following day. Highlights include a T-39A North American Sabreliner Jet. An upcoming auction will feature vintage aircraft engines, propellers, and more dating back to WWII.

The preview is part of a series of weekly auctions that began October 17 to sell excess items, such as surplus or obsolete kitchen equipment, outdated metal shop equipment, safes, automotive engines, obsolete pianos, kilns, and more.

Since October, Biddergy.com has conducted approximately 25 online auctions to sell the district’s surplus and/or obsolete items. To date, these auctions have netted the district in excess of $372,000.

The online auction program seeks to minimize handling and warehousing costs as well as provide DPS proceeds from the sale of the contents. Items from the past auctions included surplus and/or obsolete multimedia equipment, athletic equipment, sporting goods, automotive technology, vehicles, furniture, and more!
