“Do the Write Thing” Challenge finalists

Congratulations to students from Carver S.T.E.M. Academy, Fisher Magnet Upper, Clark Preparatory Academy, Davison Elementary-Middle School, Sampson-Webber Leadership Academy and Marcus Garvey Academy for being named runner-up and finalists in the 2014 “Do the Write Thing” Challenge, on Friday, April 25. A special student recognition ceremony will be held Saturday, May 31. The challenge is presented by the National Campaign to Stop Violence.

The “Do the Write Thing” challenge is an engaging opportunity that gives students the chance to take part in classroom conversations discussing the impact that violence has on their lives. In written form, students are able to express what they have seen to be some of the causes of youth violence as well as solutions to help decrease these actions in their communities.
