DPS essay contest winners featured in Michigan Chronicle

Several Detroit Public Schools’ students won multiple scholarships at the First Independence Bank Scholarship Essay Contest on April 17. The event was held at the First Independence Bank Livernois branch on Detroit’s west side.

High School Winners

  • First Place-Deion Love, Renaissance High School, $2,000 Scholarship
  • Second Place-Lauren Uddyback, Renaissance High School, $1,250 Scholarship
  • Third Place-Clarissa Barksdale, Renaissance High School, $750 Scholarship

Middle School Winners

  • First Place-Jendayi Anderson, Foreign Language Immersion and Cultural Studies School (FLICS), $500 Scholarship
  • Second Place-Jalen Nichols, Ludington Magnet Middle School, $150 Scholarship
  • Third Place-Rageon Thomas, Ludington Magnet Middle School, $150 Scholarship
