Cass Tech and King students receive “Palazzo Strozzi Renaissance Award”

Detroit Public Schools’ Office of Literacy was thrilled to announce the winners of the 2014 “Palazzo Strozzi Renaissance Award” Tuesday, April 15, during a breakfast reception held at Breithaupt Career and Technical Center.

Cass Tech and Martin Luther King, Jr. Senior High School 11th grade students recently participated in a rigorous study of the Italian Renaissance. The study concluded with each student completing a research essay and SKYPE interview as their final project. With the sponsorship of Chrysler Group LLC and Mr. Alfred Taubman, four winners were selected to study in Italy during the month of July 2014.  Ms. Shar Willis, Cass Tech High School 11th grade English Language Arts teacher, was selected to accompany the award recipients. Students will have the oppotunity to experience Western culture as they visit Rome, Milan, Venice, and Florence.
