Kindergarten students from Burton International Academy celebrated Pi Day on Friday, March 14. With the help of two fifth-grade students, the kindergarten students traced circumferences (circles) and diameters (horizontal lines) in the air with their hands to help understand the terms. Next the kindergartners traced plates, drew the diameter on the circle, and measured their circumferences with yarn. Students measured their diameters with the yarn, which should have been three and a little bit of extra yarn = 3.14. Finally, the students colored the symbol for Pi and colored a portion of the numerical value of Pi. At the end of the lesson, the participants were also able to enjoy a delicious slice of pie!
