Registration for K-8 Spring Sports has been extended to April 17, 2014.

The Elementary-Middle School Athletics Program is also seeking coaches and assistant coaches for various sports programs. Contact Edward Tomlin, Director of Elementary-Middle School Athletics, for more details at edward.tomlin@detroitk12.org or (313) 873-6336.

The start date of each sport will vary by school. Parents are required to register for spring sports offerings and complete an Application, Parent Consent Form and Physical Form at their local school (with the exception of golf as registration can take place at the school or on Saturday during the Middle School Jamboree and Championship Game).

As part of the district’s five-year Strategic Plan to offer all DPS students in grades K-8 an opportunity to play in an organized sport, the Detroit Public Schools Elementary-Middle School Athletics Program opened in the fall of 2013 with more than 900 students participating in co-ed soccer, basketball and football. Roughly 750 students are currently finishing up the winter Boys Middle School Basketball League, co-ed basketball in grades K-5 and cheerleading.
