DPS / Detroit Metro Scholastic Chess League Results

Eighty student chess players, the best of DPS, will travel to San Diego, CA and Atlanta, GA in April to compete in the United States Chess Federation’s 2014 National Championship Tournaments! The students earned the right to compete at the national level based upon their final ranking in the Detroit Metro Scholastic Chess League, which involves hundreds of students in serious chess competition. The top three schools from each division (elementary, middle and high schools) will travel in hopes of returning to Detroit with trophies, medals and plaques.

The final standings of our DPS schools in the Detroit Metro Scholastic League are as follows:

Elementary – Bates Academy 1st Place and FLICS 2nd Place.

Middle – Ludington 1st Place, Spain 2nd Place and Bates 3rd Place.

High School – Cass Technical 1st Place, ML King 2nd Place and Renaissance 3rd Place.

Each of these schools will send ten students to compete at this year’s National tournaments that will draw more than 1200 competitors from all 50 states. Congratulations to our DPS Champions! Bring home the Gold from Nationals!!
