Big D boys’ basketball tourney resumes today at East English Village, Western; girls set for Thursday’s PSL semifinals

Due to a power outage, the Big D boys’ basketball second-round (quarterfinal) games scheduled for today, Tuesday, Feb. 11, at Renaissance High School have been moved to Western International High School.

At Western, East English Village plays Cass Tech at 4 p.m. followed by Ford against Southeastern at 5:30 p.m. At East English Village Prep, Pershing plays Osborn at 4 p.m. followed by Douglass against Renaissance at 5:30 p.m.

Today’s quarterfinal winners advance to the Detroit Public School League boys’ basketball semifinals Friday, Feb. 14 at Cass Tech High School.

In Big D girls’ basketball quarterfinal games Monday, Cody defeated Pershing 49-41 and Cass Tech ousted Mumford 65-22 at King High School, while Renaissance beat DCP-Northwestern 65-41 and King walloped Osborn 62-13 at Mumford High School. The winners advanced to Thursday’s (Feb. 13) PSL girls’ basketball semifinals at Western International, where Cody will play Cass Tech at 5:30 p.m. followed by Renaissance against defending league champion King at 7 p.m.
