Cass Tech senior volleyball standout Aaliya Davidson was feted Wednesday at a school ceremony where she officially signed a national letter of intent to attend George Washington University on an athletic scholarship.

Davidson, a four-year starter for the Lady Technicians, was recently chosen to the 2013 All-State team by the Michigan Volleyball Coaches Association. She previously was named to the 32-member All-Region team, along with Cass Tech teammates Sasha Johnson and Nicole White and Renaissance High’s Trystyn Walton, Arielle Sears and Ahraya Pollard.

Cass Tech head coach Ed Tomlin, whose team won its fourth consecutive Detroit Public School League championship and extended its streak as perennial district champions, was named Region 18 coach of the year. Renaissance’s Earlander Taylor was selected junior varsity coach of the year.
