Renaissance vs. defending champion Cass Tech in Thursday’s PSL girls’ volleyball title game

Detroit Public School League girls’ volleyball defending champion Cass Tech advanced past Western 25-18, 25-10, 25-14, and Renaissance defeated King 25-21, 25-7, 17-25, 25-19 last week to set up a championship rivalry rematch at 6 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 24) at Western High School.

Coach Edward Tomlin’s Lady Technicians have beaten Coach Louis Mitchell’s Lady Phoenix in the finals the previous three years, while Renaissance is looking for its first league championship since 2009.

Thursday’s action begins at 4 p.m. with the consolation game between Western and King. The players chosen to this year’s PSL All-City volleyball team will be introduced prior to the championship match. Admission is $3.
