PSL girls’ volleyball playoffs get underway with today’s quarterfinals

The 2013 Detroit Public School League girls’ volleyball playoffs begin today (Tuesday, Oct. 15) with four quarterfinal games, starting at 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. at two sites.

At Cass Tech High School, Western plays DIA at 4 p.m. and defending league champion Cass Tech plays CMA at 5:30 p.m, with the winners advancing to the 4 p.m. semifinal Thursday (Oct. 17) at Western International High School.

At East English Village Prep Academy, King plays Mumford today at 4 p.m. and Renaissance plays East English Village at 5:30 p.m. The winners will meet in the 5:30 p.m. semifinal Thursday (Oct. 17) at Western International High.

The PSL girls’ volleyball championship game is set for 6 p.m. next week Thursday, Oct. 24 at Western International High.

Admission is $3.

JUNIOR VARSITY: In PSL junior varsity girls’ volleyball Monday at King High School, Renaissance defeated Cass Tech in two sets to win the 2013 league championship.

In PSL junior varsity football Monday, Cass Tech advanced with a 33-0 semifinal victory against East English Village at King High, and Denby beat DCP-Northwestern 16-8 in the semfinal game at Mumford High. The Technicians and the Tars meet at 4 p.m. next Tuesday (Oct. 22) at Renaissance High School for the 2013 PSL JV football championship.
