The field is set for the 2013 Detroit Public School League football semifinals Friday at DCP-Northwestern High School.
In the first semifinal, unbeaten defending league champion King (6-0 overall, 5-0 PSL East) will face Mumford (6-1 overall, 5-1 PSL West) at 5 p.m.
That game will immediately be followed by the 7 p.m. semifinal, featuring unbeaten two-time defending Division 1 state champion Cass Tech (7-0 overall, 6-0 PSL West) against East English Village (5-2 overall, 4-1 PSL East).
The winners advance to the PSL Championship Game at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25 at Ford Field.
Tickets for the semifinals are $5 and can be purchased at the gate. Students must have a DPS picture ID or be accompanied by a parent or guardian 21 years or older.
In addition to Friday’s semifinals, a full slate of crossover games are on tap for Thursday: (4 p.m. starts except where noted:) Central at Denby; Western at Southeastern; DCP-Northwestern at Osborn; Douglass at Renaissance; Pershing vs. Cody (at DCP-Northwestern High); Dearborn Robichaud at Ford (nonleague), 6 p.m.
In last Friday’s games, Cass Tech defeated previously unbeaten Mumford 41-6; King squashed Denby 54-12; East English Village shut out Pershing 42-0; Renaissance spanked DCP-Northwestern 52-6; Cody blanked Central 44-0; Western beat Ford 28-6; Southeastern defeated Douglass 29-6; and Osborn lost to nonleague foe Garden City 20-12.
