Gardner Elementary School fifth-grade teacher Sheila Winters was one of 11 deserving teachers from Detroit-area schools who received a surprise visit from OfficeMax Tuesday, October 1.
Principal Karen Doneghy, along with the staff members of OfficeMax, awarded Winters with $1,000 worth of classroom supplies as part of the annual OfficeMax A Day Made Better Advocacy Program.
“I can’t believe this! This is so amazing,” said Winters, as she accepted her bouquet of colorful flowers and Certificate of Appreciation awarded to her by Nancy Messieha, OfficeMax-Dearborn store Team Leader.
Winters was presented with a large box of school supplies which included a Kindle Fire, a digital camera, pens/pencils, journals, folders, a brand new office chair and much more!
OfficeMax came prepared to make a difference not only showering its honoree with classroom essentials, but also providing goodie bags for every teacher at Gardner filled with supplies and other learning essentials for their students and classrooms.
