Cass Tech to host Cody in PSL football Game of the Week

Unbeaten Cass Tech, No. 1-ranked in the state and bidding for its third consecutive Division 1 football state championship, will have the spotlight Friday at 7 p.m. when it hosts Cody in the Detroit Public School League Game of the Week.

Coach Thomas Wilcher’s Technicians are 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the league after a 32-6 victory in last Friday’s PSL Game of the Week at Renaissance. Coach Calvin Norman’s Comets are 1-2 overall and 1-1 in the league after losing 26-22 at Mumford.

The remainder of Friday’s games are all 4 p.m. starts and include:  unbeaten Denby (3-0, 1-0) at East English Village (1-2, 1-1); Douglass (0-2, 0-1) at Osborn (1-2, 1-1); Southeastern (0-3, 0-2) at defending league champion and unbeaten King (3-0, 2-0); Renaissance (1-2, 1-1) at winless Ford (0-3, 0-2); Western (1-2, 1-1) at unbeaten Mumford (3-0, 2-0); and winless Central (0-3, 0-2) at DCP-Northwestern (2-1, 1-1).

In other results last Friday, DCP-Northwestern romped past Ford 40-0, East English Village trounced Douglass 50-8, King blanked Osborn 42-0, Pershing shut out Southeastern 6-0, Western nipped Central in overtime 14-12, and Denby beat nonleague foe Allen Park Cabrini 28-7.
