State champion Cass Tech unveils new weight room courtesy of UAW, Ford

To the winners go the spoils.

Cass Tech High, the back-to-back Division 1 defending state football champions, unveiled its newly-renovated weight room at an official ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday attended by principal Lisa Phillips, athletic coordinator Edward Tomlin, head football coach Thomas Wilcher, head basketball coach David Dixon and many of the school’s student-athletes whom the fully-equipped facility will benefit.

The new weight room, which also includes a dedicated student-athlete study lab, was made possible by a donation from the UAW-Ford National Programs Center. Also attending the ceremony were UAW vice president Jimmy Settles, Ford Motor Company vice president of labor affairs Marty Mulloy, and DPS assistant superintendent Rebeca Luna.
