Attention Non-Resident Students: The Detroit Public Schools may now enroll non-resident students

The Detroit Public Schools may now enroll non-resident students under Section 105 and 105c of the State School Aid Act (MCL 388.1705c[19]).  Applications for non-resident student enrollments will be taken at the School of Choice (Cass, Renaissance, M.L. King and Detroit School of Arts are excluded) or in the Student Services and Data Management Complex located in the South Wing of Frederick Douglass Academy until Friday, September 6, 2013, Monday through Thursday, during the hours of 8:30 am to 2:30 pm. Per State Law, there are no exceptions until the next enrollment deadline in the second semester, Friday, January 24, 2014.

  • No cost for the School of Choice program
  • No transportation is provided
  • Students can remain in Detroit, if they stay enrolled
  • DPS may refuse to enroll a non-resident that is or has been suspended during the past two years or has ever been expelled.


Bring the original birth certificate, immunization record, official transcript, and the name and address of the last school attended.
